What is a “Captain Only” charter?

‘Captain Only’ is a bare boat charter, in which, the client hires the services of a professional Captain to navigate the vessel on their behalf. In all other aspects it is a bare boat charter, which means you pay for the food, diesel fuel and any marina fees.

What is the Captain’s role on the charter?

Your Captain will ensure the safe passage of your vessel. This will include all aspects of motoring, navigation, as well as docking, mooring/anchoring. Our most asked question! Almost every single day from Tampa to The Keys the weather is forecasted for 10-25% chance of rain. Thunderstorms will pop up on occasion, and in the rare occasion that we don’t leave the dock in St. Pete, you will get to reschedule your trip.

What are the departure options?

Depending on the length of the Charter, you can arrive the night before or 15 minutes prior! Check with Captain Dave or Pete to find out when you should arrive.

Is the Captain’s tip included in the price?

No, the tip is not included in the price of your charter. Tipping is at the customer’s discretion. If you are impressed with the crew’s service, please show that to them directly. Typically, for exceptional service the Captain receives 10-20% of the charter price.

What is your deposit policy?

A 50% deposit holds your vacation reservation, with the balance due 5 days before you depart. We take Visa, AMEX, Mastercard and Discover.

Do we need to purchase provisions for the Captain on our Charter?

Yes, it is standard in the industry to include and provide provisions for your Captain if you are eating on board during your vacation.

What type of sunscreen should we bring?

The summer sun can be fierce! For safety reasons we kindly request “No suntan oils onboard” as they turn the boat decks into skating rinks. We also prefer Paba Free lotions, as PABA stains fiberglass. That means no spray lotions!
