Is this a shared charter?
No. Your charter is private and you will not share the experience with strangers.
What is a “Captain Only” charter?
‘Captain Only’ is a bare boat charter, in which, the client hires the services of a professional Captain to navigate the vessel on their behalf. In all other aspects it is a bare boat charter, which means you pay for the food, diesel fuel and any marina fees.
What is the Captain’s role on the charter?
Your Captain will ensure the safe passage of your vessel. This will include all aspects of motoring, navigation, as well as docking, mooring/anchoring. The Captain will also supervise the operation of vessel systems and tender (dinghy) usage. The Captain will conduct required daily vessel maintenance checks and coordinate with Exhale base staff whenever needed.
How many guests can charter the boat?
With our Captain Only charters, the Captain takes the forward starboard cabin and you and your guest get to divide the remaining 2 sleeping areas: Port side master cabin with a private bathroom and starboard side aft cabin with a shared bathroom with the Captain.
The forecast calls for rain, should we a charter?
Our most asked question! Almost every single day from Tampa to The Keys the weather is forecasted for 10-25% chance of rain. Thunderstorms will pop up on occasion, and in the rare occasion that we don’t leave the dock in St. Pete, you will get to reschedule your trip.
What are the departure options?
Depending on the length of the Charter, you can arrive the night before or 15 minutes prior! Check with Captain Dave or Pete to find out when you should arrive.
Is the Captain’s tip included in the price?
No, the tip is not included in the price of your charter. Tipping is at the customer’s discretion. If you are impressed with the crew’s service, please show that to them directly. Typically, for exceptional service the Captain receives 10-20% of the charter price.
What is your deposit policy?
A 50% deposit holds your vacation reservation, with the balance due 5 days before you depart. We take Visa, AMEX, Mastercard and Discover.
What happens to my deposit if we don’t go through with our charter?
If weather from a named storm (hurricane) prevents us from leaving the dock, you will be given the option to reschedule or refunded 100%, less any direct provisioning performed at your request for your charter. If you cancel the charter for any other reason, no refunds are issued.
Are animals allowed on Exhale?
While we love animals, they are not permitted onboard Exhale, for any reason, no exceptions.
Do we get to drive the boat?
Yes, if you have the proper experience. We offer bareboat charters, which means you are the captain. You must sign a damage waiver, provide insurance information, and submit proof that you are able to handle a boat like Exhale.
Are there linens and towels onboard?
Bed linens, pillows and complete bath/hand towels will be provided for guests. Charters lasting longer than a week will be charged a laundry service fee.
Let’s talk about provisioning, when and where?
Yes, you will need to provision for your trip. You have two options. First, you can Uber/drive to one of many groceries stores the night you arrive. Second, you can pay Sailing Florida to have your boat stocked for you, with your groceries before you arrive. A separate fee applies.
Do we need to purchase provisions for the Captain on our Charter?
Yes, it is standard in the industry to include and provide provisions for your Captain if you are eating on board during your vacation.
What type of sunscreen should we bring?
The summer sun can be fierce! For safety reasons we kindly request “No suntan oils onboard” as they turn the boat decks into skating rinks. We also prefer Paba Free lotions, as PABA stains fiberglass. That means no spray lotions!
